When you visit the website, the host automatically processes data sent by your browser: IP address, date and time of access, requested page, referrer URL, browser type and version, and operating system. This data is technically required to deliver the website and to keep it secure and stable (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the secure and error-free operation of the site). Log files are deleted after a short period according to the host’s policy unless they are needed to investigate a security incident. We have concluded a data processing agreement with the host pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. Where the host processes data outside the EU/EEA, this is based on an adequacy decision of the European Commission (such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or on standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).

4. Processing of your character files

When you open a .fch file or select a character folder, the editor reads and writes the file locally in your browser only (File API / File System Access API). Its contents – such as the character name, player ID or inventory – are not transmitted to our server or to third parties and are not stored by us. Folder access permissions are managed by your browser, where you can revoke them at any time.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Language preference: By default, we show the site in the language your browser sends (Accept-Language). When you actively switch the language, we store your choice in the lang cookie (value “de” or “en”, stored for 1 year). It is only set when you switch the language and is used solely to show you the site in your language. Storing it is strictly necessary for this service you explicitly requested (§ 165(3) Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021; Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Analytics consent: Your choice in the analytics banner is stored in your browser’s local storage (localStorage, entry analytics-consent, until you delete it) so that the banner does not appear on every visit (§ 165(3) Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021; Art. 6(1)(c) in conjunction with Art. 7(1) GDPR). Matomo’s cookies are described in the section “Web analytics with Matomo”.

6. Web analytics with Matomo

To understand how the editor is used and to improve it, we use the open-source tool Matomo. It runs on our own server (analytics.adore-agency.com); the data is not shared with third parties and not processed outside the EU.

Matomo is only loaded once you accept in the analytics banner. We then record: your full IP address and the approximate location derived from it on our server (country, region, city), date, time and duration of your visit, pages viewed, where you came from (referrer), browser, operating system, screen resolution and language, clicks on links and buttons, scroll depth, technical errors and which editor features you use (e.g. file opened, item added with its in-game identifier, skill changed, saved). Contents of your character file such as the character name or player ID are never transmitted.

For this, Matomo sets the cookies _pk_id (recognition, 13 months), _pk_ses (session, 30 minutes) and _pk_ref (referrer, 6 months). The legal basis is your consent (§ 165(3) Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021; Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Raw data is deleted after 25 months at the latest.

Without consent, nothing is recorded and no cookie is set. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future via the “Analytics settings” link at the bottom of every page; Matomo’s cookies are then deleted.

7. Support via PayPal

The “Support” link is a plain link to PayPal. No data is sent to PayPal when you visit our site. Only when you click the link are you taken to the website of PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22–24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg, which is responsible for the processing there (PayPal privacy statement).

If you send us money, PayPal provides us with your name, email address, the amount and any message. We use this data only to process and record the payment (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR) and keep it for the statutory retention period (generally seven years, § 132 Austrian Federal Fiscal Code).

8. Fonts

The fonts used are downloaded when the website is built and served from our own server. No connection to Google Fonts or other font providers is made when you visit the site.

9. Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process your details to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). We delete the data once it is no longer needed for this purpose, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

The competent supervisory authority in Austria is the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at.

Right to object: Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). An informal message to dominik.wukovatz@gmail.com is sufficient.

11. Further information

We do not use automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR. You are not obliged to provide us with personal data; however, the website cannot be displayed without the technically necessary connection data.
